MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDING CHAIR

I have been working in the ELT field as an ELT practitioner, master trainer and a researcher since 1993. Having worked in senior management positions in this field for the past 27 years and carried out a number of ELT researches which have been published and disseminated in national and international conferences, workshops and publications, I felt the necessity and a moral obligation to set up an English teachers' association for supporting the teaching and learning community. With this view in mind, I have set up GATE-SELTA to support and promote English language teaching and learning locally, nationally and internationally. I have been currently working as a Principal of Muhibur Rahman Academy and an ‘Executive Director’ (Volunteer Position) of GATE TRUST, which is a non-profit educational NGO working in Bangladesh. GATE is a voluntary and non-profit organization which aims to develop and maintain various educational projects on Teaching and Learning Improvement, Digital Bangladesh: E-Learning & Teaching, Youth Development Leadership, and Livelihood. I am very pleased and honoured to develop this English Language Teachers Association named ‘GATE-SELTA (Sylhet English Language Teachers Association) which has a large number of trained English teachers trained by GATE TRUST. I do believe that our ELT practitioners will be enormously encouraged and benefited by this initiative. I was also very fortunate to develop the first English Teachers' Association in Bangladesh named 'UKBET-SCELTA' which was the associate of IATEFL and I became the first Associate Representative of IATEFL in Bangladesh. I am currently leading 'English Teachers' Association of Bangladesh (ETAB)' as a Vice President of National Committee and the President of ETAB Sylhet Divisional Chapter.

Message from the desk of the President

Dear all ,
Welcome and greetings from GATE-SELTA. Together with colleagues we can build a happy, healthy, educated and prosperous world. That is why we, teachers, are here to stand on a platform in the name of GATE-SELTA. So I am humbled, honored, and privileged to assume the role of President of the GATE-SELTA as I believe this is a rare blessing bestowed upon me to serve the teaching community. I am deeply grateful to my colleagues for keeping trust on me by assigning me with the charge of the president. I sincerely thank the founding chair of GATE-SELTA for his continuous support, great leadership, and outstanding contribution to GATE-SELTA.I also congratulate the members of GATE-SELTA for their dedication, dream, and passion as English teachers. I am inspired by the commitment of SELTA members and all of their achievements over the years. Indeed, the growth of GATE-SELTA has been propelled collectively by the contribution of general members of the organization as well as the members of the Executive Committee. I look forward to continuing this important work towards fulfilling the mission of GATE-SELTA. In this endeavor, I seek your continuous support as I believe a voluntary teachers’ association like GATE-SELTA can only function well if its members are responsible and active. Over the time GATE-SELTA has conducted a number of in-house and outreach education and training programs, hosted ELT conferences that have brought together the best minds of the country dealing with ELT and developed and implemented a number of ELT projects. GATE-SELTA has also reached a number of marginalized teachers who are underprivileged in terms of professional development. Now GATE-SELTA plans to cross its regional boundary to reach more people and collaborate and communicate with national policymakers and advocacy group of educational development, global partnership, and global organization promoting accesses to education for all. This interactive website has been launched keeping this view in mind. Hope this platform can connect more like-minded ELT people around the world with GATE-SELTA. May this education journey of GATE-SELTA be never-ending.
